As a general rule, interpreters for the deaf are relegated to the side of a performance, or even to a little box in the corner of the screen.
But not this time. This interpreter was placed front and center, and took full advantage of her position. So expansive and expressive are her movements that you can get a gist of the meaning of the words, even if you don’t understand Portuguese.
