We write about Brazilian inventiveness a lot here. Every once in a while, the Brazilian gift for improvisation makes an immediate and lasting impact on one or more lives. One of the most popular videos in Brazil at the moment is this one, of a man helping an elderly woman cross a flooded street in Rio de Janeiro.
It was discovered that the man in question was a low-income laborer, and someone had the bright idea of setting up a type of “Go-Fund-Me” account to help him buy a house. The original goal was R$40.000 (a little over $10,000). In less than a day it had reached over R$100.000 (over $25,000).
If that’s not a feel-good story, we’re not sure what is.
